Meet the Team
Juan has served as Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Credit Union Association of New Mexico for the past seven years and was recently selected as CEO of Leverage Point, Inc.. Prior to joining the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, Fernández Ceballos worked for the New York State Assembly with many Latino-elected officials at the state and federal level. In New Mexico, he has worked closely with Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D, NM), Vice Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Rep. Lujan Grisham is one of the leading credit union champions in Congress. Fernández Ceballos was born and raised in Puerto Rico of Dominican ancestry.

Michael Barrio, MA comes to Leverage Point after having previously worked as a legislative analyst for a Santa Fe-based lobbying firm, and for the New Mexico State University Office of Governmental Relations. He spent several years in Los Angeles, CA, and gained extensive expertise in corporate human resources, organizational development and alignment, and media relations during his tenure at The Walt Disney Co. and Yahoo!, Inc..
Further, prior to joining Leverage Point, Inc., Michael taught at New Mexico State University as an adjunct professor in Business & Professional Communication, Technical & Scientific Communication, and Contemporary Identity Politics. He is passionate about professional and corporate ethics, and remains a continuing Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Fellow and advocate. Michael received his MA in Rhetoric and Professional Communication from New Mexico State University (NMSU), and was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Michael is an active and involved member of the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry (for which he serves on the Economic Development and Entrepreneurship committees), the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Public Relations Society of America and it’s New Mexico chapter, as well as serving as a current member with the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Paul Stull has demonstrated success in strategy development, leadership, political advocacy and has spoken before a variety of league and industry groups. Paul previously spent 7 years with Arizona State Credit Union in Phoenix, AZ, and has also served as the credit union’s Senior Vice President Strategy and Brand with direct responsibility for Corporate Strategy and Planning, Product Management and Marketing. Paul is active in credit union industry political advocacy programs, on both the state and national level, and has played an important role in the Coalition for Credit Union Access (the credit union ballot initiative to defeat payday lending in the State of Arizona), and has advocated for various state and federal credit union issues. He was named Arizona Political Advocate of the Year in 2010. Paul previously served as Director of the One AZ Community Foundation and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Marketing Association of Credit Unions. He is a graduate of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Program and received his undergraduate degree from Elmira College. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Advertising Federation and has been honored with over 80 national marketing, communications and branding awards.

Larry is an experienced credit union executive with over 40 years of experience in governmental affairs and public relations. He has served in key roles at CUNA & Affiliates, NAFCU, the NCUA, CUNA Mutual Group and was Chairman of the executive committee for the Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice. Larry has been instrumental in shaping today’s credit union landscape. In addition to working with CUNA Mutual Group for more than 15 years, he has worked for every major credit union organization in the U.S.
Without Larry’s efforts in helping to make H.R. 1151 law, there might not be a credit union movement today. He was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in 2010 and is the recipient of the prestigious NCUF’s Herb Wegner Award for High Achievement and numerous other honors as one of the most influential people shaping the credit union movement’s history over the last 35 years.
