The Director of Public Affairs is responsible for helping develop strategic communications programs and elevating the profiles of clients of Leverage Point, which include non-profits, state agencies, private companies, and credit unions. Efforts include brand messaging development and management, development of strategic communications programs and plans; media relations and strategy, and other communications duties.

Duties: Working with current clients to measure and achieve goals.

Responsible for helping develop new business and find opportunities for business in existing markets.

 

Develop key messages, talking points and manage the implementation across all communications programs (marketing, PR,  internal, external, etc). Assist with strategic communication requirements for executives, including presentation development, interview talking points crisis communications, and more.

Drive editorial story planning, writing and pitching, as well as uncover exposure opportunities with key media outlets in New Mexico.

Build strong working relationships with company executives, and departments such as Marketing/Sales/Business Development, vendors, agencies our

Qualifications: Job Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge of corporate communications and public relations practices.

 

Experience working within a public company, government, association or agency.

Strong organization and time management skills.

A positive and professional team player attitude that works well under pressure and is flexible and responsible. Attention to detail and a drive to help a client succeed.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and online communications tools (CMS systems, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).

 

Experience and/or Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.

Professional experience in marketing and/or communications.

Recommended, but not required: experience with strategic planning, messaging strategy, corporate communications, public relations, brand development, content development, writing, web and social media, project management, presentation development, speaker’s bureau, vendor/agency management, budget management, presentation development.
